• Dales Way: Bolton Abbey to Burnsall

The walk from Bolton Abbey begins in a mist shrouded landscape hiding the delights of a lightening dale until the warmth of the sun burns back to reveal all. Soon the Cavendish Pavilion hoves into view offering, a walker getting into their stride, an opportunity to indulge in many a culinary delight!

Beyond this point The Strid gorge has formed where The Wharfe course has deepened and the river flows in a silence broken only by the delicate sound of gentle leaf fall. A pale Autumnal sunlight illuminates the rich colours of the season and dappled light penetrates an ever thinning canopy. This sylvan delight causes the walker to lessen the pace and drink in this most special time of the year.
