Dales Way: Grassington to Buckden (10.3 miles)

The way now lies north through the quaint streets of Grassington, littered with nooks and crannies, that on any other day would be worthy of exploration. The river is left far below as views open up in all directions and on this chilly day, when Winter sun illuminates the ice on the path, eyes squint in response.

The route heads uphill to the outskirts of the village and enters open moorland where a myriad of paths can confuse. This area of Lea Green is a site of ancient tumuli, settlements and field systems. Here limestone scenery dominates with outcroppings and pavements in the immediate vicinity and escarpments and cliffs in the distant view.
